February is Middle East Peace Month!! You are very cordially invited to our many events! Watch for flyers!

Thursday, 7 Feb – “Israeli Dancing Workshop” – 6pm in the Basement of the International Center

Come out to learn about a fun form of step dancing, meet other people interested in the Middle East, and learn about a new club that is being formed on campus!
Wednesday, 13 Feb – “More Alike Than Different Dinner” – 7:30 pm @ Hillel House
Enjoy Arab and Israeli food (all kosher and vegetarian!) while discussing common facets of both cultures. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for professors. Tickets are limited, so please e-mail me if you would like to buy any.
Friday, 15 Feb – “Arabian Nights, Persian Mornings, Israeli Afternoons” – 8:30 pm @ Club Downunder
Come for an entertaining evening of Middle Eastern poetry, music, and dancing while enjoying delicious Persian food. The event is free, and the FSU Bellydancers will be performing!
Thursday, 21 Feb – “Perspectives on Inter-cultural Dialogue” – SSB Room 201 & 203
Following the Alliance of Civilizations Conference at FSU, Dr. Terry Coonan, Msgr. William A. Kurr, Dr. Paul Hensel, and Jack Sigler will be discussing Samuel Huntington’s ‘Clash of Civilizations’ theory. Food and refreshments from Annapurna will be provided after the discussion.
Friday, 29 Feb – “Contemporary Arabic Calligraphy” – 4 pm in HCB Room 103
Dr. Nihad Dukhan, is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Detroit, Mercy. At this event, he will discuss his work in Arabic Calligraphy and give a demonstration. A question and answer session will follow.
Co-sponsors of this month are: The Middle East Peace Association, the Middle East Center, the Arab Cultural Association, the Muslim Student Association, Hillel, the Jewish Student Union, the World Affairs Program, Amnesty International, the Student Darfur Awareness Group, Global Peace Exchange, and the Bellydancers at FSU.
