New on Campus? Welcome to the other Tribe

May 19th, 2009 · No Comments

So, you’re accepted to Florida State University for the summer or the fall, you’re going want to “find a friend on campus” as soon as possible. Here are a couple of ways to do that:

1) Stop by the Hillel table at Seminole Discovery when you’re on campus for Orientation. You’ll meet Shaq and Rachel and other members of the tribe. They can fill you in on the all the important stuff.

2) If you live in South Florida come to a Jewish College Life 101

Location:
David Posnack Jewish Community Center
5850 S Pine Island Road
Davie, FL 33328 US
When: Tuesday, June 16, 7:30PM    Add to my Outlook Calendar

Confused about your college courses this fall?
Start with Jewish College Life 101

Survey critical issues:
Where can I get a bagel?
How do I get a good internship?
I’ve got my ticket, but who do I sit with at the game?
What’s on the menu for Shabbat dinner?
How do I sign up for an Alternative Spring Break in Argentina?
If  I fall asleep on my books while studying at Hillel, will someone wake me before my exam?
What are the hot fraternities and sororities on campus?

The course is offered to all incoming freshmen to Florida schools.
No pre-requisites.  No exams.  No grade.   Full credit for showing up.
Parents are invited to audit.

This introductory course is taught by highly qualified visiting professors (aka Hillel Executive Directors):
Florida State University: Melanie Annis
H2G-Colleges of North Dade: Eliana Kelzmeses
University of Central Florida: Jonathan Siger
University of Florida: Keith Dvorchik
University of Miami: Melina Gimal
and representatives from
Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach
Hillel of Tampa Bay

AND, there will be current students from these schools so you can ask the real questions.
