Shabbat Happens at Hillel at FSU every Friday night during the semester, except as noted in the calendar on the right. People come by between 6 and 7 to gather, schmooze and play a little music or pool. Services start at 7p.m. When we have leaders for both Conservative and Reform services we’ll “split” services between upstairs and down. If not, we’ll have a “combined” service. See what the calendar says for details. You’re welcome to stay for dinner/Oneg afterwards, about 8p.m. If you’d like help getting to one of the local synagogues, just let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
High Holy Days, Holidays, Passover – you name it we’ll celebrate. Typically, High Holy Day services (Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur) draws such large crowds that we move to the Student Services Building, or other location (check calendar at right). Services are led by skilled lay leaders, student rabbis or other volunteers. You are welcome to take a part in the service whether it be as a “schlepper” or usher, torah reader or any other role. Contact us for more options.
We usually have a festive dinner for Rosh Hashana following services. Hillel always has First Seder for Passover.
Other holidays are celebrated with student input and interests. Please let us know you thoughts.
Special events, or Jewish Learning Opportunities such as weekly Lunch and Learn, Torah study, or Spirituality Workshops will be listed in the calendar.
