Let Hillel at FSU fund your program idea for enriching Jewish life at Florida State.
1. You’ve had a brilliant idea – a great way of bringing together Jews and others on campus to share in Jewish life. Talk with your friends, get your creative jewices flowing, make sure it’s fun, interesting, appealing and within the realm of the possible (if not, let’s talk about next semester!) then walk yourself through this process.
2. Visit the Hillel.org link to Student Life and read about program guides at the bottom, program planning . Check out the FSU site for programming on campus at FSU Event Planning
3. Your idea is taking shape. Start building a team of associates to help you - generally, it takes more than just one to make a program a real success. Ask for help. Seek out team players among students, faculty and community members.
4. Bring your idea to Hillel at FSU’s program staff and together, or on your own, fill out the Hillel at FSU Blank Program Plan. Blank copies are
found in the Programming File Box in the Program Office upstairs. Ask us
about possible grants from other resources and check the “grants” link at
Hillel.org to help you with funding your program. Submit the plan and
request for funding. The plan will be reviewed by Hillel staff and student
board.
5. You should receive the go-ahead in a few days. If this is a quick
turn around program, stay in touch with us at programs@hillelatfsu.org Once
a program is approved Hillel staff will:
a. Open a Program folder to be stored in the Programming File Box -
keep all your records here
b. Log your Program into the Program Timeline and Benchmarks to help
you stay on track of all the steps to ensure your success
c. Add the basic information to the Program Calendar at the
Hillelatfsu.org website along with your description of the program
6. Keep a reviewing the programming information at the Hillel.org site
and talking with us to ensure a successful outcome for your program.
7. Keep all receipts and make sure that check numbers are recorded on
the receipts and given to the office coordinator. You’ll receive a check for
each item that you have budgeted once it is approved by the director and the
student board.
8. If you are using the Hillel building, be sure you get a key and
reserve the house through the office coordinator (office@hillelatfsu.org)
9. All current and approved programs will have a file folder in the
Program File box in the Program Office. Keep all your notes, copies of
flyers, program plan, phone number etc in your file. This will be a central
location for your team members to file/look up program related information.
10. Program evaluation forms are required to consider a program
successfully completed. Any outstanding budgeted monies will be reimbursed
only when the final evaluation has been completed.
Helpful resources:
. Stay in touch with program staff (programs@hillelatfsu.org) so they
can help you stay on top of your program and ensure your success
. Review similar programs from our files and from the Program Exchange
at Hillel.org
. Ask friends at other campuses for ideas from similar programs that
were successful
. Use the computers at Hillel, and especially the “office contacts”
database to look up numbers from local vendors - Beta Bar, Conner Carriages,
Tasty Pastry Bakery etc.
. Use the “program” database for student contact information.
